Leora G. Travis, age 82, of Bellingham passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026 surrounded by her loving family.
What a woman. She never once was negative in front of us, only fought for what was right. Every single person's feelings mattered to her, and she'd defend them. Except if you were wrong of course, she'd say "Now wait a minute" holding up her finger. She'd let something slide, but Lord help us all, do NOT let that birthmark shine on her forehead. Then we better all run. She showed her family what it means to use your brain with subtle words that made you scratch your head because she just insulted you but made you think about your actions. She showed us, what tough really meant.
She taught us what true unconditional love is. She never gave up on any of us. And if you asked any single person here if they'd trust her word in a time of need, we'd all say Lee knows best. Let's be honest.. What do yawl expect from a woman with a hunk of a husband in the Navy and two little creeps who wouldn't let her catch a break@ add a few siblings, nieces, nephews, and all her grandbabies. I mean that's a headache and a half, but she loved fiercely and all of us who are blessed enough to know her love and protection have been so lucky. As much as I cannot stand being in this world without her, I know she's happy with the love of her life and the rest of her family looking over us.
Leora was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Donald E. Travis in April of 2013 and is survived by her sons Richard Travis and Dave Travis and his wife Cheryl; granddaughters Kassi Travis, Sage McKenzie, and Silas Basher; grandsons Zach Travis, Andrew Honkala, David Basher and Johnny Basher; great granddaughter Hayden McKenzie; great grandsons Gavin Travis and Hayden McKenzie; sister-in-law's Betty and husband Gary Thomas, Holly Anderson and Lupi Anderson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
