Kim Irene Determan

Kim Irene Determan, of Blaine, passed away in Bellingham on Monday, February 21, 2017, she came to live out-loud and she did… Beloved by so many, Kim will be most remembered by her larger than life stature that was eclipsed by an even bigger heart. Kim was an artist and encouraged others to be that same, not just on canvas but in life, she walked her talk. Kim was a daughter, born in Torrance, California to parents Melvin and Dorothy Moore who have passed away. She was a sister to Kathy, who has passed away, and to Diane Vines. Kim was an Aunt to Travis, son of Diane. She was a mother to: Traci Walker, John Kennedy, Kris Kennedy, and Ashlee Kennedy and to her daughters of the heart, Sonja and Jenn. Kim was a Grandmother to seven grandchildren, a wife to David Determan, who recently passed away, and Kim loved and was loved by her “Twisted Sisters".

The saying that “at the end of your days it will not matter how many loved you but how well you loved” speaks of Kim, she loved greatly. Kim was also greatly loved and there can be none to take her place. Kim leaves countless friends and people she was a mentor to. Kim had many jobs in her life and a most important one was as a security officer at Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Washington. The students respected and responded to her. Kim’s last pursuit was her art and she would not have called it a job, but her passion. Kim loved to color outside and in the lines and appreciated others of the same mind. Kim was an accomplished artist that was respected by the Whatcom County Art community. Her physical body left all of us too soon, but her unique and loving presence will live on forever.

There will be a Celebration of Life held on April 8, 2017 at the BP Heron Center, Birch Bay State Park from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
