Kay Adele Waldo, age 80, of Everson passed away Saturday, June 14, 2025 in Bellingham.
Kay was born March 23, 1945 in Oakland, California to parents Charles and Opal Adele (Walter) Russell.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Husband of 64 years, Ron Waldo, son Brian Lee Waldo, grandson Ryon Harriman, her two Sisters Dorothy (Hackett) O’Brien and Corrine (Hackett) Hayes . She is survived by; son Robert Waldo and his wife Robbie; daughter Sandra Guzman and her husband Ed; 5 grandchildren, Darcy Boersma (Mike), Stacy Harriman, Katie Bravo (Gerald), Brad Waldo (Jessica) and Ashley Loreen; 8 great grandchildren, 1 sister Carolee (Hackett) Lindquist and numerous other relatives.
Kay moved around a lot as a child and never felt she had a home until she moved to Spokane at 14, It was there she had met the love of her life, Ron on a previous visit. Once she moved there, they dated and married in 1960 at a very young age. They wanted to leave their chaotic childhoods behind and create a loving and stable family unit, which they did. They had their 3 children while living in Spokane. They moved the family to Everson in 1973. Everson became the home and roots that Kay always craved.
Kay worked many jobs over the years but is most well known for her time in Lynden at Safeway (Fairway Center), Interwest Bank (and other names of course) and Re/Max Real Estate. Real Estate was the job she enjoyed the most because it not only satisfied her social needs but gave her challenges. She liked that nothing happened unless she made it happen and that her success was truly something she had earned. All of her jobs provided friends that she maintained for the rest of her life.
Kay is best known for being social. She loved people and people gravitated towards her. She drew energy from interacting with others either through business or pleasure. Her grocery trips took twice as long as they needed because every aisle brought an old friend and she would have to stop for a quick catch up. She truly cared about others and that was so evident in her conversation. She loved being a hostess. She created a lovely home and entertained family and friends there often.
Without a doubt Kay’s biggest accomplishment is the home she built with Ron. Their house was filled with love. Their children always knew they were safe, loved, and blessed. They were raised to know and love the Lord. Kay’s family was the most important thing in her life and her family never doubted that. To her family, she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, an example of a woman who was extremely devout in her faith, and a woman who could face new challenges and come out ahead.
Kay will be missed not only by her family but so many friends as well. Her life, touched so many.
Kay lost Ron 10 months ago. And although she was constantly surrounded by family and friends and remained a social butterfly, she missed her life partner, the love of her life, every minute of every day. She was confident in her salvation and was ready to go home whenever the Lord called. An infection on her heart contributed to her death, but her family will always say she died of a broken heart.
