It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Kathreen “ Sue” Gunderson, who passed away on June 28, 2026. She was known for her work ethic, kindness, and commitment to others. She was a remarkable woman, a loving mother, and a kind soul. Her selflessness, warmth and generous spirit will be remembered forever. She leaves a legacy of love, strength and compassion that lives on in all of us.

She was born November 19, 1948 and grew up on a family farm in North Bellingham, where she developed a deep rooted work ethic and respect for the land at an early age. From sunrise chores to learning the value of a dollar, in good times and in bad, her childhood on the farm laid the foundation for the woman she would become.

After getting her nursing degree, she worked as an ER nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham, finishing her career at Needham Nursing home, where she worked as a charge nurse. She was known for her generosity and kindness and impacted many lives while finishing her career there. She had a generous hear, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need.

She most enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved spending time at the beach, camping many summers at Baker Lake, gardening, and attending car shows with her husband, Robert. She had a special way with animals and her house was always full of four legged companions.

Preceded in death by her husband Robert Gunderson and her son Leroy Gunderson.

Survived by her sister Mary; hers sons, Jeremy(Sarah), Jason(Michelle), Jeff(Kara), Paul; her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous other family members and friends.
