Obituary

Judy Lee Sweet, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 1, 2026, at the age of 59.

Judy was born on July 22, 1967, to Lyle and Ruth Sweet. She was the second oldest of six children and was raised on a farm in Ferndale, Washington, where she grew up surrounded by family and hard work and simple joys of farm life.

Judy was a redhead–and she made sure you knew it. She was sassy, stubborn, strong-willed, and never afraid to let you know exactly what she thought. But underneath that fiery spirit was an incredibly big and loving heart. Judy had a special way of making people feel cared for, welcomed and included. Her heart extended far beyond her own family, and over the years she became a second mom to many of her children's friends.

Judy found happiness in the simple things, especially when they brought her family together. She loved gardening, watching things grow from something small into something beautiful. She also treasured Christmas cookie bake days with her family–days filled with laughter, love, a little chaos, and memories that will be cherished long after the last cookie has been eaten.

Family was at the heart of Judy's life. She leaves behind her loving husband, Barry; her mother, Ruth; and her siblings, Kathy (Ben), Barb, Bill (Shannon), Danny (Kelsey), and Kenny (Jenny).

She will be deeply missed by her children, Brandon (Courtney), Rhiannon, and Monica (Tom), and her grandchildren, Jaxon, Kendal, Ashlynn, Emersen, Odin, Colton, Eunoia, Freyja, and Emerald.

Judy will be remembered for her fiery spirit, her sass, her stubborn determination, and above all, her enormous heart. She loved her family fiercely and had a gift for making people feel like they belonged. It will be the ordinary moments that keep her closest–the laughter around the kitchen, Christmas cookies spread across the counters, the time spent in her garden, family gathered together, and all those little moments that never seemed important enough at the time but now mean everything.

Her passing leaves an emptiness that words cannot fill, but there is comfort in knowing that Judy is no longer suffering and has finally found peace.

“Those who walk in righteousness enter into peace; they find rest as they lie in death.” Isaiah 57:2

Judy’s life was a gift to those fortunate enough to know and love her. Her time here has come to an end, but her love has not. It lives on in her children, her grandchildren, her family, her friends, and in every person who was lucky enough to be welcomed into her heart.

Rest peacefully, Judy. Your garden will keep growing, the Christmas cookies will still be baked. Your stories will still be told, your laughter remembered, and your love carried forward through the generations that come from you.

We Love you. We will miss you more than words can ever say, and we will carry a piece of you with us always.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, November 7, 2026, 2:00 PM, at First Baptist Church, 5759 Vista Drive, Ferndale, WA 9824.

A private family graveside will be held at Greenacres Memorial Park in Ferndale.
