Juanita Zimmerman (Birmingham) grew up in Flint, Michigan and after the early loss of her mother, she took on family responsibilities from a young age, serving through cooking, cleaning and caring for others — a pattern of quiet devotion that would define her entire life.
She worked for fourteen years as a hospital laboratory technician, a role that allowed her to care for patients both personally and through careful, behind-the-scenes work.
After her husband, Donald, retired from Buick Automotive, they moved to Minnesota, where they purchased a four-cabin lake resort. Though it was not her idea, Juanita devoted herself to the work, carefully cleaning the cabins so that guests might find rest.
Following the sale of the resort, she remained busy — assisting Donald with acres of gardens and cleaning both the local Catholic Church and the Union Congregational church.
In 2003, Juanita and Donald moved to Ferndale, Washington, to be closer to family. There, Juanita devoted herself to serving her family and parish, assisting with her son’s business, caring for her granddaughters and volunteering with quiet dedication at church.
Juanita’s life was humble and quiet, yet overflowing with love poured out in service. She will be remembered for a heart always ready to serve and her unfailing devotion to her family and Catholic faith.
She is survived by her son, Anthony, his wife Dawn, and her beloved granddaughters Ezri, Lily, Zoey, and Brinley.
