Jolene Pearl Lagerwey

February 10, 1935 — March 1, 2023

Lynden

Jolene Lagerwey was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, March 1st, 2023 at age 88.  Jolene was born in Bellingham WA on February 10, 1935 to Joseph and Marjorie (Knight) Manthey.  She was one of six children.  Jolene was raised in the Laurel area, attended Meridian schools and graduated from Ferndale High School in 1953.

Jolene married Nick Lagerwey on June 18, 1954.  Together they raised four children.  Jolene loved being a wife, mother and grandma.  Nothing made her happier than getting together with her family.  She always had pie, cake, cookies or candy when someone would stop by.  Her apple pies were the best and the flowers in her yard were always tended to with loving care.  Jolene was always thinking of others.  She helped care for her father and each of her siblings before their passing.  She also cared for her husband Nick as he battled cancer.  Jolene was a member of Good Shephard Bible Church.  A special thanks to her nephew Steve Lagerwey for picking her up and bringing her to church these last couple of years.

Jolene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Nick of 55 years, her siblings – Ruby, Bob, Dave, Jerry and Paul and great-grandson Oliver.  She is survived by her children Jan (Brent) Hoelzle, Val (Jake) Kalma, Curt (Suzanne) Lagerwey,  Lynda (John) Greene, 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Shirley Lagerwey and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Good Shephard Bible Church, 1254 W Smith Rd. Bellingham WA  98226
