Joan Marie Donaldson

Joan Marie Donaldson, age 71, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2025, at Whatcom Hospice House. Joan was born in Bellingham, WA on September 26, 1954 to parents Harold and Laura White. Her parents took great pride in her achievements and imparted a wide range of skills to her throughout the years. She dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her three children and three grandchildren. She was passionate about refinishing old pieces of furniture, gardening, canning and family gatherings. She loved being surrounded by her family all the time, especially on the holidays.

Joan graduated from Bellingham High School in 1973. Her passion in life was to be a mom most of all. Joan also enjoyed spending time with her close friend Ricky Williams, traveling to Palm Springs during the winter, and growing Dahlias during the summer and selling them in Fairhaven.

She is survived by her daughter Holly (Glenn) Whitney, sons Tyson (Kris) Colwell and Christoper (Kelsey) Donaldson, grandchildren Nathaniel, Mayra, and Stetson, and her sister Linda (Greg) Cowan.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Laura White, sister Judy Rick, and brother in-law Ty Rick. She has requested a private family ceremony with all her family alongside the ocean, where we will spread her ashes and let her be free of pain; this was Joan's request.

Donations may be made to the Whatcom Hospice House or the Salvation Army in Joan Donaldson's name.
