Jessie David Norman Levasseur-Pettman

10/30/1996-7/14/2025

Jessie, 28, of Sedro Woolley, Washington, was tragically taken from his family and friends on July 14, 2025. His sudden passing has left overwhelming sadness in the hearts of all who knew and loved him—his mom and dad, Rosie and Lonnie; his twin sister, Jenna; siblings Shelby, Devin, Desiree, and Morris; his best friends Scott, Mitch, and Emma; his nieces Hailey, Alizé, Keara and Ayana; his Aunt Sharon and Uncle Gary; his aunties in Canada—Robin, Anita, Monica, Bev, Gloria, Joy, and Carol; and his cousins Brandon and Andrea and their families.

He was predeceased by his biological father David; his grandparents in Canada, Nellie and Jerry; his Papa Silas; his Uncle Jesse; and his Nana Jean.

Jessie was born in Comox, BC, Canada. When he was 6, his mom brought him and his sister to live in Bellingham, WA where she met Lonnie and married into the Workman family. Later in 2010, the family settled in Sedro Woolley, WA where Jessie attended Burlington Edison High School and spent 3 years in JROTC. He loved the Armed Drill and Marksmanship aspects and attended 2 summers at Leadership Camp. In his junior year, he signed on with the U.S. Marines with plans to serve 4 years then become a Police Officer. During his senior year he made some career choices that kept him busy in Skagit and Whatcom Counties. He drove truck and tractors in local potato fields, worked in construction as a Laborer and up to his death he performed maintenance on The Hannah, a floating fish processing and freezing vessel out of Bellingham Bay which also took him up to Alaska for 2 months the summer of 2024. Although Jessie grew up most of his life in the United States, he remained very proud of his Canadian roots and his Native heritage. He was especially close to his adopted grandparents and family in B.C., whom he loved and missed dearly.

Jessie was a genuinely caring person with a big heart for the people closest to him. He was a nature lover with a tender spirit for animals of every kind—especially his dog and cat, as well as reptiles, insects, rats, chickens, geese, and pigeons. He loved the outdoors, where he felt most comfortable and at peace: hiking mountain trails, wild mushroom picking, camping, collecting rocks, or spending time on and under the water catching fish, bullfrogs, or crawdads. He saw beauty in all creatures and was extremely knowledgeable about the plants and animals in his world. Jessie was curious and intelligent— he loved to thoroughly research anything that sparked his interest.

Jessie had hopes and dreams of one day becoming a husband and father. More than anything, he wanted to raise his children with his sense of wonder and respect for the natural world. He imagined teaching them how to see the beauty in every living creature. Jessie looked forward to passing on family traditions, including teaching his children how to play Chuckalut, just as his Papa Silas and Uncle Jesse had taught him! He loved to cook for people in creative ways with his own foraged foods. He was a master of his steamed mussels and clams, red wine honey mustard chicken thighs, pigeon jalapeño poppers and steamed hosta shoots he would pilfer from his mother’s front garden every spring!

Those closest to Jessie loved him immensely, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His big smile lit up every room, and his laughter was infectious. His vibrant spirit has left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to have known him.

A Celebration of Life for Jessie will be held on October 25, 2025. Please text message 360-540-2595 to RSVP for time and location if you would like to join his family in celebrating the memories of Jessie.

In lieu of flowers, we think Jessie would have wanted donations to be made to any of the following: Whatcom Humane Society Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Wolf Hollow Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Skagit Animals in Need (SAIN), Discovery Bay Wild Bird Rescue or Sarvey Wildlife Care Center.
