Jerry Dale Jeffers, age 90, was born in Bellingham, Washington to Orva Ray and Esther Joy (Pyeatt) Jeffers. He passed away in Bellingham on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
He attended high school at Meridian and graduated with the class of 1954. In high school he played baseball and excelled at basketball. He married Emelie (Nelson) Jeffers in August of 1955 in Bellingham.
Jerry worked for Bornstein Seafoods for 41 years retiring in 1995. During his working years he became a volunteer coach for Bellingham Recreation in their basketball and baseball programs. In later years he coached men’s softball for Union Foundry. He supported Boy’s Club football, Roller speed skating, youth ice hockey, Cub Scouts and his daughter’s baton marching team. There were always kids around.
He loved watching college track and basketball and was a huge fan of the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He also loved listening to music from the 50’s and 60’s.
Jerry is survived by his brother Don Jeffers of Lynden, his wife of 69 years, Emelie and his three children, Sandra (Richard) Frost of Sparks NV, Scott Jeffers of Bellingham and Steve (Paula) Jeffers of Everson. There are also 6 grandchildren; Molly (Branden) Palomo, Jake (Chelsea) Jeffers, Caitlyn (Andy) Salazar, Caleb (Kylie) Jeffers, Kaleigh (Evan) Spinelli and Brianna Hetu-Jeffers as well as nine great grandchildren, Aurora, Damian, Haiden, Roselyn, Maddie, Ophelia, Calliope, Ailis, and Oliver with number ten on the way.
