Jean M. Leary

Jean M. Leary of Ferndale, passed away peacefully on her 84th birthday, Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 surrounded by several family members and staff that loved her at Mt. Baker Care Center in Bellingham, WA. Jean was born in Detroit, MI on February 28, 1930. On April 30, 1949, she married James G. Leary and raised seven children. Jean and James were married for 50 years until James lost his battle to lung cancer in 1999. Jean is survived by all seven of her children: Patrick Leary (wife, Jan), Mary Katherine Biesboer (husband, Michael), Susan Ann Taxdahl (husband, Keith), James A. Leary (wife, Christine), Brian Leary, Ann Marie Stack (husband, James), and Kathleen Joyce Kreider (husband, Gary); 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who adored her family more than anything in this world. She had a way of making everyone that she knew feel special and loved. Jean was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ferndale. She was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Seahawks and the Mariners play on television. She loved movies and music and simply spending time with her every-adoring family. She lived a very selfless life putting others’ needs before her own and never complained about anything. She will be missed more than can be put into words and those that had the pleasure of knowing her will be touched by her love and kindness for the rest of their lives. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mt. Baker Care Center, 2905 Connelly Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98225. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM, Church Of Christ, 6300 Portal Way, Ferndale, WA, followed immediately by graveside services at Greenacres Cemetery, Ferndale.
