Janet Black Wegener

Janet Black Wegener, age 97, of Bellingham passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 quietly at Brookdale Senior Living in Fairhaven, WA. She grew up in Seattle and then graduated from Wheaton College in Illinois where she met her husband. They moved to Bellingham to work at The Firs and she lived in that home until moving to Senior Care. Janet was preceded in death by her husband of seventy-one years, Philip T. Wegener Sr. in 2021. She is survived by her sons: Philip Jr. of Bellingham, Chuck (DeeDee) of Auburn, WA, Jim (Joy) of Muncie, IN and Jon (Pam) of Parker, CO. 18 grandchildren and 30 great-children will miss her as well. She will be remembered as a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ who prayed for the salvation of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren every day. Janet taught at Bellingham Christian School as well as Women's Bible study groups in the community. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 31, 2024, at The Firs Retreat Center, 4605 Cable Street, Bellingham, WA 98229. Memorial donations may be made to; Immanuel Bible Church, Bellingham Christian School or The Firs Retreat Center.
