Janet Mayov Vitali

March 15, 1934 — July 27, 2023

Deming, WA

Janet was born March 15, 1934 in Port Orchard, Washington. Her parents immigrated from Sweden with two daughters and then had three more. They later moved to the Ballard area in Seattle. Janet met her future husband Rene Vitali at Ballard High school. They married and had six children.
Janet was a homemaker. Her passion was cooking, and baking, and she loved to try new recipes. You could always count on a wonderful meal. She so enjoyed having her family together for meals. There were so many family dinners that were enjoyed together. Janet also loved to garden and brought the bounty of fresh vegetables and fruit to the table where that love blended with her love of cooking. She also enjoyed camping with the family in Eastern Washington, along Bumping River. It was something she looked forward to every year. Then, in 1970 along with her husband Rene, they bought vacation property in Whatcom County along the Nooksack River. The family had many adventures there on weekends and summer vacations. Janet and Rene permanently moved to Whatcom County when Rene retired. Janet never got tired of the mountain views. You could always count on her having a pot of coffee ready for visitors. Janet also enjoyed her overseas trips, especially to visit family in Sweden. She had a love of music, and especially loved going out polka dancing with her husband Rene. Accordion music was always enjoyed and has deep roots within the family.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband Rene. She leaves behind six children, Lynn Vitali (Diane), Denise Christensen, Jackie Peterson (Ed), Joanne Olson (Ric), Robert Vitali (Stephanie), and Michelle Vitali Brown.  She had seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. She also leaves behind one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mom was also a religious person. Her belief helped her throughout her life through the good times and not so good times.

Mom, we will miss you. Rest easy.
