James Francis Dowd

Dec 17, 1963 — Jul 17, 2026

James Francis "Jimmy" Dowd, age 62, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026 in Bellingham, WA, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born December 17, 1963 in Brooklyn, NY, Jimmy moved with-his family to Bellingham when he was five years old. They settled just up the road from the girl who would one day become his beloved wife, Marion. Jimmy grew up enjoying countless days playing in Whatcom Falls Park, where he created many happy childhood memories that stayed with him throughout his life. He was surrounded by the love of his beloved wife, family, and dear friends at the time of his passing.

Jimmy was a man whose kindness, generosity, and warm spirit touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He had a remarkable gift for bringing people together, whether by organizing unforgettable themed gatherings, hosting backyard barbecues, or planning picnics filled with laughter, great food, and cherished memories. A magnificent cook and talented gardener, Jimmy found joy in sharing his passions with family and friends.

He had a knack for helping others, especially when it came to technology. No matter the problem, Jimmy was always willing to lend a hand with patience and a smile. He also loved decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas and Halloween, transforming his home into a place of wonder and celebration that delighted everyone who visited.

Jimmy treasured the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, dirt biking, and playing baseball with his older brother, Eddy, and his lifelong friend, Joey. He loved animals deeply and treated every creature with compassion and care.

As a young boy, Jimmy attended Assumption Catholic Church, where he faithfully served as an altar boy. His Catholic faith remained an important part of his life, providing strength and guidance throughout the years.

While attending high school, Jimmy was a proud member of the Bellingham Police Department Cadet Program. He later worked for BNSF Railway for several years before joining Great Western Lumber Mill, where he built lasting friendships with many coworkers who came to admire his hardworking nature and genuine kindness.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edward Dowd and Eleanor Dowd. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Marion Lalonde; his son, Chandler, and Chandler, wife Kaitlyn; cherished grandsons, Benji and Lucas; his stepchildren, Michael, Chad, Sabrina; his sister, Mary Huntley; his brother, Eddy Dowd, wife, Dee; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends whose lives he enriched.

Jimmy had a rare ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and loved. His generous heart, infectious smile, and unwavering willingness to help others will be remembered always. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he created and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

"Eternal rest grant unto him,0 Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. "

We love you, Jimmy, and we will see you again. You will always be in our hearts.
