Hugh Robert Maffei

Hugh Maffei age 100, a longtime resident of Bellingham passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2018.  He was born July10, 1917 to Ralph and Clara Maffei in Boring, Oregon.  Hugh was preceded in death by his parents; brother Walter; sisters Mary and Julie; and his beloved wife Della in 2015. He is survived by his step-daughter Lila Kenney of Bellingham; step-son Robert Lee of Kelso and numerous nieces and nephews. Hugh was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local #302 and worked for many years as a Superintendent in the Road Construction Industry.  He played a major part in building and improving many Roads, Freeways and Bridges in both Washington and Oregon.  Hugh had many wonderful and interesting stories to tell and he loved sharing them with family and friends.  He will be greatly missed by all.  A graveside service at Saxon Cemetery in Acme will be announced at a later date.
