Heather Chara Kendon

We sadly announce the passing of HEATHER CHARA KENDON (AUDREY RUTH WINKENHOWER, née LAMDIN) on April 11, 2024 at 87 years of age after struggling for several years with dementia.

Lovingly remembered by Alison (Dan), David, Sara (Travis) and grandchildren Zac, John, Jordan, Dane, Mattias and Markus.

Heather was born in Woking, England. After high school, she completed secretarial training in England. She then met and married her former husband, Robert who was touring Europe, both returning to settle in California.

Heather worked in various administrative support roles in post secondary institutions for decades. After years of dogged persistence, she earned a Bachelor of Arts from Regents University.

Heather loved the wild beauty of the beach, the understated elegance of gardens and nature, the creative and cathartic qualities of art but ultimately Heather was fiercely passionate about her family. Their happiness and security were paramount to her. Heather guided her children and grandchildren to pursue areas of education that she believed would be a great fit to their personality resulting in a career that would bring satisfaction and fulfilment to their lives. Mom’s gentle, comforting voice and steady, quiet encouragement will be missed.

A private family memorial will be held by the family this summer.

Memorial donations in Heather’s name may be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.
