George Lynn Owen, age 85, of Bellingham passed away in Bellingham Thursday, September 4, 2025. He was born January 17, 1940 in Vancouver, British Columbia to Percy and Lottie (Perry) Owen. George met and married Stella and then their son Craig was born. George was a Chef by trade and that is what brought him and his family to Seattle in the early 60's. He ran Stuart Anderson's Black Angus Restaurants both in Seattle and later in Bellingham. After many years in the restaurant business, he and Stella opened George's Cafe and Lounge in Lynden, WA which they ran until they sold it to become Snow Birds in Mesa, AZ. They loved the warm weather and all the activities in the park. Stella had her bingo and George got into swimming, wood working, lapidary, and of course, poker. George was preceded in death by his wife Stella, his son Craig, his brother Bill Mehan (Fran), his two sisters Dodie Kerr (Peter), Doreen Ojanen (Chuck) and their spouses. He is lovingly survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great-great nieces/nephews. A very special thank you to those who helped my Uncle in his later years. For anyone curious about my Uncle's middle name, he got that from his great-grandfather Royal Engineer, John Linn, who pioneered the Lynn Valley area in British Columbia. A Barbecue will be held to Celebrate George’s Life, Saturday, Sept. 27th at 12 Noon, on his farm at 664 W Larson Road, Bellingham, WA 98226
