George W. Hanowell

George W. Hanowell, age 87, of Ferndale, passed away in Bellingham surrounded by family Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014. He was born Feb. 15, 1927 in Nooksack, Washington to parents George A. and Agnes P. (Bjerke) Hanowell. George served in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant during the Korean War. He was employed by Mobil Oil Refinery in Ferndale for over 30 years. George loved fishing for Steelhead in rivers. He is survived by his wife Ardelle of 41 years; son, Scott Mckay and his wife Karen of Penn.; 2 grandchildren, brother, Richard Hanowell and his wife Pat of Ferndale; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A memorial services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Ferndale 5759 Vista Dr., Ferndale, WA 98248, with Pastors Ralph Poulson and Dave Lunsford officiating. Family suggests memorial donations be made to Alderwood Park Convalescent Center, 2726 Alderwood Ave., Bellingham, WA 98225.
