"Gary Lee Patterson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his cherished home in Bellingham, WA, on Friday, February 27th, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gary was born in Bellingham, WA, to Perry and Ethel (Nelson) Patterson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Larry Wayne Patterson and David Alan Patterson. He graduated from Bellingham High School in 1959. Gary went on to serve his country in the United States Navy from June 1959 to November 1964, including time spent aboard the USS Ranger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley (Reimer) Patterson; his sister, Kathy (Stan) Hillier; and his brother, Greg Patterson. As well as his daughter, Charlene Patterson (partner Sam); his sons, Eric (wife Tara) and Kevin (wife Crystal); his seven grandchildren; his four great-grandchildren; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Gary dedicated 36 years of hard work to Georgia Pacific before retiring on April 1, 2002.

Gary found great joy as a member of the Whatcom County Cruising Association for 39 years, proudly showing his beautifully restored '57 Chevy. He delighted in hobbies like bowling, fishing, hunting, and camping, always savoring time spent with his many friends and loved ones."
