Earline met the love her life, Ken, in January of 1967 and they were married shortly after, in March of the same year. With him being in the Navy, they moved around a lot. Early in their marriage, she went to South Dakota to stay with his family while he was deployed. During that time she formed a deep friendship with a couple of his sisters. They ended up back in Washington State for a few years, then moved to South Dakota for 10 years. During that time, her relationship with Vi flourished. They spent many hours playing cards, Yahtzee, canning, hanging out with the children and most importantly reading and studying God’s Word, which included many hours in prayer. While there she went to school to get her nursing license, and after that spent many years working in the geriatric field. As many know, Earline loved being a mom, but was only able to have 5 of her own children. However, she was a mother to many of her children’s friends, and several even lived with them at times.
Earline was very proud of her Lummi heritage and completed many arts and craft shows with her mother, selling their beautiful creations, and she was also involved in Pow Wows and canoe racing when she was younger. She was the very proud owner of OrcaBeads and Things where she not only sold her own and others artwork and creations, but also sold beads and items to assist others in making their own beautiful creations. She loved hosting dream catcher making classes with her daughter Vivian Hansen. She also loved playing the saxophone, a trait which she passed down to two of her grandsons. One of her most favorite things to do was to have annual granddaughter parties, where she instilled the love of Christ into them, and taught them how loved and cherished they are as women and princesses to the most high.
Earline loved growing up on the beach and would spend as much time there as possible. The family had many 4th of July’s camping there, falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the waves.
