Floyd Anthony Yunker

Floyd Anthony Yunker, age 91, of Bellingham passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021. He passed peacefully in his sleep, with his wife Helen, of 70 years and family by his side. Floyd was the son of Leo and Clementine (Janas) Yunker, he was born October 11, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio.  He has two sisters, Lucille (Yunker) Adamski and Nancy (Yunker) Pusher. While in High School, Floyd played baseball and basketball. Floyd and Helen were married on February 8, 1949, in Allen County Indiana. Floyd and Helen have seven children: David, Linda Welch, Bruce, Stephan, Janet Finley, Nancy Wessling and Thomas. Floyd was a very hard worker and busy father and husband.  He typically worked extra part time jobs, so there was money to buy Christmas presents for his family. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps Reserves on August 17, 1949, where he was attached to the 8th Infantry Battalion, Bayview Park, in Toledo, Ohio. Floyd was also a Volunteer Fireman in Toledo and a member of the Police Citizens Patrol in Bellingham, Washington. He worked for Kaiser Jeep, in Toledo, until 1969, than went to work for and retired from the Bellingham School District.  He and Helen were camp hosts for the Washington State Parks Department and enjoyed it enormously. He had a passion to collect things, oh boy did he!  High on the list was Toy Trains, Base Ball Cards and memorabilia. Floyd was laid to rest next to his son Stephen, in Bayview Cemetery, Bellingham in a private ceremony with Military Honors due to covid restrictions. Dad, we do and will miss you.
