Evelyn Lucille Wilkinson May 10,1927 – March 14, 2026
Evelyn Lucille (Griffin) Wilkinson passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 98 & 9 months.
She was born May 10, 1927, in Bellingham, Washington, to Opal and Robert Griffin. On December 30, 1947, she married the love of her life, Clarence Edward Wilkinson, in a candlelight ceremony at St. James Presbyterian Church in Bellingham, WA. They shared many happy years together.
Evelyn was active in the D.U.P.I. Garden Club and was part owner of Precious Petals Floral in Ferndale with her daughter and husband. She loved boating on the Salish Sea, camping, painting, gardening, cooking, and traveling. Evelyn was very proud of her decades of volunteering for Mt. Baker Theater. Always ready for adventure, she enjoyed activities such as scuba diving, kayaking, whitewater rafting, kite flying, and even hot air ballooning. Evelyn especially looked forward each year to attending the Whatcom Old Settlers “Pioneer Days.” For several years she was honored in being one of the oldest seniors at the celebration. She also enjoyed volunteering to read to first graders in her daughter’s classrooms as well as playing her piano.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Edward Wilkinson; her parents, Opal and Robert Griffin; and her son, Robert Edward Wilkinson.
Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Lynda Lea Lucas; grandson Ed Lucas (Jenessa); great-grandchildren Levi Lucas and Shayla (Evan) Schwitter; grandchildren Toni Dawn and Jeremy Wilkinson; friend Jacelyn King; lifelong friends Nancy Martin, Joyce Nielson & Bethel Kohn.
Her love, kindness, and adventurous spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
