Esther Caroline Jacobson, age 99, of Bellingham was born to Emma and J.T. Johnson at Blue Creek, Washington, December 7, 1914. She passed into heaven on Friday, April 18, 2014, at the North Cascades Health & Rehabilitation Center in Bellingham. Esther spent her teenage years in Bellingham, attending schools at Fairhaven. She married Al Jacobson May 1933 and they celebrated their 50th anniversary on May 1983. During the war years she worked at the furniture plant, the plywood plant, and the Lighthouse Mission Gift Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Jacobson and her brother Paul Johnson. Esther is survived by her son John and his wife Jan Jacobson; daughter, Marie and her husband Jim Welch; 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives. While living at Lake Whatcom she entertained numerous family functions and hosted musical groups from the Firs Conferences, at Geneva Community Church. Esther taught Sunday School for many years at both Geneva and Northlake Community Churches teaching Jr. High girls and toddlers she was known as “Aunty Esther”. She loved to babysit her grandchildren and the many visits from her children, family and many friends. Through her 99 years her personal belief in the Lord and His comfort sustained her, she will be dearly missed. A graveside service will be held at Greenacres Cemetery, 5700 Northwest Drive, Ferndale, WA, 2:00PM, Friday, April 25, 2014, with Pastor Jim Welch officiating. Family suggest memorials be made to North Lake Community Church Nursery Department, 1471 E. Mcloud Road, Bellingham, WA 98226 or to North Cascades Health & Rehabilitation Center, Butterfly Flower garden, 4680 Cordata Parkway, Bellingham, WA 98226.
