Eldon J. Peters

October 31, 1939 — January 8, 2026

Eldon J. Peters passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026 at the age of 86. He was born on October 31, 1939, in Deer Park, Washington to John and Elizabeth (Loewen) Peters. The family moved to Custer soon after. Eldon attended Ferndale schools and graduated in 1958. Following graduation, he worked at Boeing and Mt. Baker Plywood as a foreman until he retired.

Eldon married Shirley Rice in the late 60’s and became the father of four which were his pride and joy; Debbie Schleitweiler, Connie (Steve) Jacobson, Karen (Joe) Baldwin and Mark. After Shirley’s passing he married Josephine VanderMolen, where he gained a large loving family.

Eldon was a wood cutter at heart, loved the outdoors, hooligan dipping and crabbing. He had a great sense of humor, liked to tease and joke. He enjoyed visiting theme parts with his kids. You rarely saw him without a toothpick in his mouth.

Many years were spent on Cain Lake, camping and picnicking with family and friends.

After a wood cutting accident, Eldon and Josephine began wood working with friends, making “Toys for God’s Kids,” shipping the toys all over the world. Following Josephine’s passing, Eldon moved into assisted living at Orchard Park where he lived for 9 years.

Eldon was a loving, caring, hardworking and true provider for his family. He was sweet, gentle, a man of faith, never complaining, always positive.

Eldon is survived by siblings, Gary Peters, Elaine Wood, Joanne Peterson; his four children, Josephine’s family, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by wives, Shirley and Josephine, his parents, three infant brothers, sister-in-law and brother-in-law.

We would like to thank the staff at Orchard Park for their love and care shown to Eldon. He always appreciated them. A special thank you to Dan Noteboom for his many years of true friendship.

At Eldon’s request, there will be no service. He will be laid to rest at Enterprise Cemetery.
