Donald James Spady (AKA-Grumpy) age 77 of Bellingham, WA passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov 3rd with his family by his side.  Grumpy was born in Bellingham, WA on June 15th, 1942 to Joseph and Norma Spady.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Candace, son Benjamin (Gwen,) 
daughter-in-law, Tami and grand-kids, Kyle and Megan. Sisters, Joanne Mallock (Jack,) Diana Brodston (John,) Leann Gilbert (Bruce,) Sandra Glick (Mike,) as well as many brothers and sisters in law, cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by eldest son Joseph J. Spady, both parents, brother Robert "Bob" Spady and sister Betty Bittner (Francis.)
Grumpy served his Country in the U.S.M.C and was honorably discharged in August 1965.  In October 1966, he joined the Bellingham Fire Dept. and became one of the first Paramedics in Bellingham.  He worked his way through the ranks and retired as Battalion Chief in 1984.  After his retirement from the Bellingham Fire Dept. he held various jobs to keep busy and as a Jack of all trades was there to help anyone in need.
Over the years Grumpy enjoyed spoiling his many Dachshunds and teaching them all how to sing.  With his wife Candace, he enjoyed numerous trips to Cannon Beach, Oregon which was one of his favorite places on earth, besides his home at (The Spady Compound.)  
Grumpy will be missed tremendously and forever in our hearts and memories.
A Celebration of Grumpy's life will be held on Friday, November 15th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at North Lake Community Church - 1471 E. McLeod Rd. (Corner of McLeod and Britton Rd.)
