Dolores Adelle Hanson

Dolores Adelle Hanson was born on July 13,1930 to James and Adelle Bernard in Bellingham Washington.  She passed away on December 21, 2023 at Summit Place Assisted Living in Bellingham WA. Dolores was the oldest of a blended family of 7. She and her sister Virginia joined Diane, Sandra, Verden Jr (Sonny), Judy and Shelly. Dolores graduated from Bellingham High School in 1948.  In 1949, she married her first husband Burt Cline and had sons Terry and Michael, and daughter Cheryl.  Burt was tragically killed in an industrial accident in 1965.  Dolores found love again and married Joe Hanson in 1967 and created a blended family with his three children Jodie, Steve and Rob.  They then added daughter Jennifer to the family in 1970 and their family was complete.  Joe built the family home on Huron street that he and Dolores lived in for over 50 years.  They had 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  They loved to host family get-togethers with their family and with both of their large extended families as well. Dolores’s most prized possessions were her family.  She loved spending time with those that she loved.  Most of her vacations were spent with her family and summers were spent at Sandy Point.  No matter what they did, or where they went, there was always lots of joyous laughter. Dolores was very proud of her career as a legal secretary.  She belonged to the National Association of Legal Support Professionals and served as both the state and national president over her time with the association.  She met many lifelong friends through this group.  She and Joe also did water aerobics, went to dances and spent time with all of their friends.  Dolores once remarked that she wondered how she had time to work when she did because she was so busy in her retirement.  Services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 858 West Smith Road, Bellingham, WA 98226 on January 5, 2024 at 12:00.  Graveside services will be held for family at 10:30 am at Bayview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of the giver’s choice.
