Daniel Elvig

Daniel Elvig left this earthly life on Aug. 15, 2026; his soul and spirit continue to live on with Jesus. He was born the youngest of four boys in Bellingham in 1952 to wonderful Christian parents Ken and Margaret Elvig. He grew up spending many happy hours on various adventures in nearby Whatcom Falls Park alongside his brothers.

Dan was an elementary school teacher in Alaska for 20 years. He took his role seriously and cared deeply for his students. He especially enjoyed teaching the children about the gold prospecting history of Alaska, taking them on field trips to try gold panning. After retiring from teaching in Alaska, he taught briefly in Skagit County.

He loved spending time in the outdoors hiking, canoeing and bicycling. Dan was a very sensitive soul which was apparent in his love for animals, art and music. Pen and ink as well as watercolors were Dan’s favorite media and he was talented and prolific with his sketching. He drew portraits, animals, still-lifes as well as landscapes while paddling in his canoe. He was quite proficient on the guitar, banjo and mandolin and enjoyed sharing songs and lyrics with his loved ones.

He was the last surviving member of his nuclear family and his passing closes a chapter and leaves a huge hole in our lives. We will miss his soft-spoken kindness and contagious laugh until – we meet with him again. We love you Brother.

Dan is survived by his Sisters-in-law LaDonna Elvig and Nancy Elvig, nephew Ken Elvig and niece Leslie Aaron. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Paul, Jim and John and his nephew Jason. At Dan’s request, there will be no service.
