Clyde Allen Shetler, age 82, of Acme passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Clyde was born to William Joseph and Verlie (Stevens) Shetler on March 3, 1943, in Bellingham, Washington.
Clyde grew up on his family’s farm on Smith Road and graduated from Merdian High School. At the age of 10, he purchased his first Jersey Heifer, and at age 21, he purchased his first Dairy Farm in Ferndale. In 1968, he married Sally Ann Rothenbuhler. In 1970, they purchased a Dairy Farm in Acme where they ran Twin Maples Jersey Dairy until 2000. After selling the dairy herd, he transitioned to raising beef cattle.
In 1998, he went to work for Mt. Baker School District where he made many friends and enjoyed the students.
Clyde was a lifelong Whatcom County resident and was proud of his family’s history in the county. They homesteaded in the Ferndale area in the1880’s along the Northwest Road.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, stepdad Fred, brother Corliss, sister Charlotte Gardner, and son Troy.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sally, his sister Janet Lambert, daughter Tiffany, son Tad, four grandchildren, Sheena, Ben, Carter, and Sophie, and great grandsons Chad and Kade.
A small graveside service will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025, 10:30 AM at Woodlawn Cemetery in Ferndale. Everyone is invited to a Potluck Memorial at the River of Life Church, 4037 Valley Highway, Deming, WA 98244 on Saturday, December 13, 2025, 2:00 PM with Pastor Ferry officiating. In lieu of flowers family suggests memorial donations be made to a favorite charity.
