Christina Marie “Chris” Pastorino, age 66, passed away at her home in Bellingham on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1958 in Redwood City, California. When she was 9 years old, her family moved to Hawaii where she stayed until after her graduation from Honokaa High School on Hawaii Island in 1976. After graduating, she attended Pacific Lutheran University, Allegheny University, and University of Montana. She finally ended up at Western Washington University in Bellingham where she stayed until graduation and beyond. In her adventures prior to Bellingham, she spent summers at Yellowstone as a bell hop and elevator operator which she loved. Once she was settled down in Bellingham, she made lots of great friends and had many different jobs. For a while she had a radio show on Public Radio called “Women on Air”. Among other things on her radio show, she would tell an ongoing story about a fictional gal named Glady’s who traveled the country in her Winnebago. She also used that venue for standing up for women’s rights and for playing music. She also worked at Rising Sun Motors for quite a while as well as Whatcom County Building Services. Her biggest love after her family, was always her dog siting and dog walking business appropriately named, “My Life is A Dog” She did the dog walking end of it until she was physically unable to and continued the dog sitting right up to the end. She had a great love of animals that was unmatched, she had a real connection with dogs and they with her.
Christina is preceded in death by her mother Carolyn, and step mother Dianne. She is survived by her father Braley S. Pastorino of Kamuela, HI, sisters Maelyn (Martin) Poston of Pasco, WA, and Tamara (Chris) Wikstrand of Richland, WA. Step brother Brady (Sara) Baumgartner of Prosser, WA and step sister Kathleen Christensen of Kennewick, WA. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Life will be held at 2:30pm, August 9, 2024 at Fairhaven Park in Bellingham at the picnic shelter. All her dog friends are also welcome to attend as that’s just the way she would want it. 107 Chuckanut Drive North, Bellingham WA
