BERT ELZA WILLIAMS
JULY 30, 1960 – MARCH 26, 2022
Bert Williams died suddenly and unexpectedly on March 26th at his home. His dogs were by his side, so he was not alone when he passed away.
Bert was born and raised in Bellingham, WA but he lived in many places over the 62 years he was alive. Bert was the 6th and youngest child of Thomas and LeVoun Williams who preceded him in death along with his sister Cindy Williams who passed away on August 28th, 2022, and his beloved Dog Winston on March 7th, 2022.
Bert leaves behind his dearly loved partner, Lyesa Hamar and their beloved animal family of dogs, Ginger and Hewey, and cats, Gus, Lewis, and Josephine White Sox Williams. Bert is survived by his siblings, Judy Williams of Bradner, BC, Mark Williams of Camano Island, WA, Stephanie Williams of Bellingham, WA and Beth Williams of Friday Harbor, WA. Bert’s surviving family also includes his children, Emily, Kennedy, Luke, Melissa, Mackenzie and Kyler, his grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Bert had an early career in commercial fishing for many years in WA and Alaska, but his true calling was for personal caregiving. Bert served vulnerable populations as a certified healthcare aide in many various skilled nursing facilities and since January 2000 as a personal private caregiver providing in-home, 24/7, care to Hospice patients who wished to die in their own homes.
Bert loved riding his motorcycle and was happiest when he was out on the water, or out in nature. His sister Judy also noted Bert was a talented sculptor with an artist eye for natural beauty. Bert was a true animal lover. Bert adopted many dogs and cats from clients who passed on and had no one else to take them. Bert touched many people's lives. Bert often remarked how fortunate he was to be privileged to attend his patients as they took their last breaths. Lyesa recalls Bert would often remind her that, No one gets to keep their loved ones forever.
