Bernice "Dolly" Rudy

Bernice “Dolly” Rudy, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at Alderwood Park Convalescent at the age of 87. She was born January 16, 1925 in Braham, Minnesota. Dolly was the oldest daughter and had five sisters and one brother. Her family moved to Bellingham when Dolly was young.

She graduated from Bellingham High School in the class of 1943, and worked at Mannings Department Store, St. John’s Glass, and eventually worked for 20 years in the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office.

She met her future husband, Jim Rudy, in October 1952 on a blind date. Jim and Dolly were married 4 months later on February 28, 1953. They started a family with Bob being born June of 1954 and Don January 1956. Jim preceded Dolly in death in April of 1975.

Dolly was a long time member of Northwest Baptist Church, of Bellingham. Her faith and family and friends were very important to her. She enjoyed family activities, camping and fishing trips, sports, especially her grandchildren’s sports and school events.

Dolly had resided at Alderwood Park Convalescent for the last 3 ½ years. They provided her with excellent and loving care. The staff members went above and beyond their duties, and we thank them.

She is survived by her son, Bob and wife Terri; grandson, Mike and wife Amy; great grandchildren, Wyatt, Cadence, Heidi, Staci, Talia and Jessica; granddaughter, Jennie Taber and husband Scott; great grandchildren, TJ and Elizabeth; grandson, Steven and wife Jainel; great grandchildren, Xavier, Alex and Lexis. Son, Don and wife Linda and granddaughters, Laura and Kristin.

A memorial celebration of life will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, 3:00 PM, at Good News Fellowship Church, 1252 W. Axton Rd., Ferndale, WA. A private family burial was at Greenacres Cemetery.
