Albert George Doan

Albert G. Doan, age 80, passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 2, 2019.  Maybe most known for his ethnographic approach to architecture inspired by the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas. He was also a sailor from Alaska to Costa Rica on his boat Pythagoras, an avid skier, mountaineer, bladesmith, model railway engineer, tango dancer, writer and artist. Al had a life-long passion for thrill-seeking adventure and delving into new interests. At age 78 he took up Guitar and Spanish, at age 80 he was still riding his motorcycle and if that wasn’t enough he recently took a horse across the Entiat Valley. Al leaves behind his wife, Patricia; two kids, Darren and Elizabeth; 2 loyal dogs and 1 unloyal cat and many friends whom he loved maybe as much as he loved mom’s meatloaf, the Seahawks, cold beer and a bright sunset. Al will be missed dearly; he was an incredible man with an unparalleled enthusiasm for life. He taught us that all the really good things in life are beyond the “Do Not Enter” sign. Every day was an adventure by your side, your creative mind and sense of humor that brightened life will stay with us forever. The family would like to express a special acknowledgment to Esther whom Al loved with his entire heart. Tu hiciste bueno anciano, you did good old man. A celebration of life will be held at Albert's home, date pending.
