Sherri Kay Glenn Valnes

October 19, 1953 ~ March 11, 2018 (age 64)

Sherri Kay Glenn Valnes, , of Kalama, Washington passed away in Kalama Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the age of 64. A funeral Mass and reception will be held for Sherri Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM at St. Philip Catholic Church in Woodland, Washington. A burial service will follow Friday, April 6, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Enterprise Cemetery, 7041 Vista Dr., Ferndale, Washington 98248.

Sherri came into the world October 19, 1953 as the daughter of Wesley and Ila Glenn of Portland, Oregon. She was the third child and second daughter in the Glenn family, which inevitably welcomed six children into its home. She graduated from St. Ignatius Catholic School in 1967 and Franklin High School in 1971.

Later that same year, Sherri married Robert Giese. The two were married for 18 years and raised five children together. In 1989, Robert and Sherri separated. Sherri moved with some of her children to Minnesota where she married Harvey Valnes in 1994.

After’s Harvey’s death in 2012, Sherri moved to southwest Washington to be closer to family. Sherri mastered creating works of art out of anything she could get her hands on from flowers to food to yarn. And while she spent many amusing days bowling and playing darts at the Woodland Moose Lodge, her happiest moments came in making beautiful memories with her family and friends.

Sherri is survived by her mother Ila Glenn; her siblings Stanley Glenn, Le’Nae Ross, Steve Glenn and Robert Glenn; her five children Leanne Giese of Blaine, Washington, Paula Hoseney and husband Sam of Kalama, Washington, David Giese and wife Lynda of Benson, Minnesota, Daniel Giese and wife Rebecca of Lynden, Washington and Teresa Giese of Kalama, Washington; step-children Waylon, Becky and Tracy; 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Michelle Glenn, father Wesley Glenn, husband Harvey Valnes, step-daughter Chris and step-son Shannon Valnes.
